The Sean Costello Memorial Fund for Bipolar Research partners with several kindred organizations to . . .

• advance/promote research that explores the link between bipolar disorder and creativity;

• advocate for people—and the families of those—battling bipolar disorder;

• proactively fight the stigma associated with the disorder; and

• educate individuals and communities about the condition, its implications on individuals living with it and their families, and ways to integrate bipolar individuals into society.

PARTNERS

Collaborative RESearch Team to study psychosocial issues in Bipolar Disorder (CREST.BD)—is a collaborative network of multidisciplinary researchers and healthcare providers, bipolar individuals, and family members & supporters of people living with the condition. This University of British Columbia, Vancouver, network is dedicated to advancing bipolar disorder research, encouraging the sharing of objective insights into the condition, and facilitating recruitment of patients/volunteers for research projects.

Emory University Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program
The biology & treatment of psychiatric disorders form the subject of the clinical research studies of the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Emory University, Atlanta, GA.

The Program initiates at least 3 new studies every year and actively seeks participants.

International Bipolar Foundation
The San Diego, CA, International Bipolar Foundation was founded by parents of bipolar children to help both people living with it and their families combat the trauma the condition is likely to cause. The Foundation provides various bipolar disorder resources, conducts student competitions to increase awareness about the condition, and organizes events around the condition and people living with it.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP)
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s mission is to use research, education and advocacy to understand & prevent suicide, a leading cause of death in the United States. The AFSP funds research, educates the general public about mental health and suicide prevention, advocates for representational public policies and extends much-needed support to the broken hearts and lives that people who commit suicide leave behind. The New York, NY, organization has local chapters in all of the 50 states.
